Handy Information

Timezone

Jakarta, Indonesia, is in GMT+7 timezone

Weather

The Jakarta area experiences warm humid weather in February, temperatures ranging between 25degC and 33degC, with some sun and frequent rain showers.

Delegates need to be aware that indoors is heavily air-conditioned in many venues, with temperatures often as low as 18degC and very dry.

Delegates are encouraged to pack accordingly.

Drinking Water

Delegates are recommended to only drink the bottled water provided. Drinking tap water is considered unsafe.

Currency

Indonesia's currency is the Rupiah, written as Rp. 1 million Rupiah is equivalent to approximately US$59, or AU$88, or €50, or SG$76.

Most payments in Jakarta are now electronic, although it will be useful to have a small amount of cash for taxis and smaller shops/stalls. It is recommended to carry a couple of physical credit cards, as electronic payment via PayWave on a phone often isn't available.

Visitors need to note that retail outlets often drop the last 3 digits in pricing. For example, an item costing Rp60,000 would be displayed as as Rp60,- instead.

Power Plugs

Indonesia uses European twin-roundpin power outlets (supporting Type-C or Type-F plugs), with a 230V/50Hz supply.

While the Sheraton guest rooms have multi-national outlets, the power strips provided in the conference area meetings will mostly support the European round-pin style only.

All delegates are encouraged to ensure they have the appropriate adapters with them. The Secretariat and Registration will not be able to assist with providing power adapters. Shops in the Gandaria City Mall will sell appropriate adapters for any delegate who has forgotten to bring one.

Delegates from countries only using 110V are recommended to check that their appliance supports 230V before connecting them to the local power supply.

Getting Around

Jakarta has metro bus and railway transport systems, as well as a local taxi service, and Grab. There is a local ride-share service similar to Grab called Gojek, but that appears to require an Indonesian mobile number to use.

Many international visitors tend to use Grab via their app, or taxis (for example, Bluebird).
